29 Mar Plantar Fasciitis – a common foot problem.
Do you struggle with pain in the arch of your foot or heel area? 🦶This could be a condition called plantar fasciitis. This is where the ligament that runs from the heel bone to the base of the toes is strained. It becomes inflamed and painful. When activities place excessive weight or force on the foot, the ligament flattens, and it provides the arch with about 25% of its strength. This tension if excessive can inflame the ligament. 🤔 It can be caused by prolonged walking or standing, wearing inappropriate shoes or starting a new exercise programme. Symptoms include burning, throbbing and aching on the inside edge or centre of the heel’s sole and it can feel worse first thing in the morning. To help you can, ✅ Taking ibuprofen ✅ Using supportive and cushioned shoes ✅ Using insoles or arch supports ✅ Modifying activity to rest the foot as much as possible. ✅ You may also find it helpful to do stretching exercises.
